the story of Madagasgan Labradorite

My eldest son bought me this beautiful rock whilst out Christmas shopping - he had helped with my first thesis - his speciality is writing - mine was not - I wrote about the colour blue & its spiritual connections - the rock is known as Madagasgan Labrodorite - it can appear blue/ green or even black - the one he bought for me was blue - it gets its name from the places where it was first discovered - in Madagascar - it was thought to be a semi precious stone - but they couldn't identify its source - it was deposited in a geological institute until a geologist found another rock with the identical properties in Labrador, Canada - they realised it was a particle from a fallen star which whilst falling to earth and cooled on its journey the colours are seemingly trapped within the molecules - creating a somewhat other worldly surface
